The Special Research Fund is a grant provided to university institutions. Each institution supplies money from its own reserves to this grant. The FSR is managed by the UMONS Council of Research. The ARC aims at developing centres of excellence specialised in fundamental research as well as interuniversity centres of excellence. The projects are allotted to teams which stand out because of the number of publications, the reputation of scientific reviews which publish their papers and the team members’ scientific distinctions … Funding spans over 5 years. The projects are assessed by international experts. Calls take place on an annual basis. Currently ten ARC projects are underway at UMONS.
