The University of Mons (UMONS) offers French language courses, based on communication methods, total immersion in groups, use of authentic and audiovisual documents, conversation, and development of comprehension. The aim is to enable the learner to communicate in French.
Different levels of courses are organised subject to a sufficient number of students (complete beginner, elementary, intermediate, advanced).
Before the courses start, the candidate takes a level test to determine their initial level, so as to include them in a suitable group for their personal goals and abilities.
Two 60-hour modules, based on 2 evenings a week (excluding academic holidays):
This course does not meet the criteria to obtain a residence permit.
A test assessing listening, reading, speaking and writing skills is carried out at the end of each module. This test does not lead to a certificate but is part of a dynamic formative assessment.
At the end of each module, a certificate is awarded to students who have attended classes regularly.
Only those who have at least 70% attendance will receive a certificate. This certificate serves only as a certificate of attendance and does not attest to any qualification.
Course modules are split in two (period 1 and period 2) during the academic year:
The test is compulsory.
There will be no level test at any another moment than on the planned dates.
