On Tuesday June 22nd, in Wuhan, in the Chinese province of Hubei, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (in short HUST) which counts 55.000 students and the University of Mons signed a co-operation convention.
This agreement aims to promote:
"This Memorandum of Understanding will allow set up a programme of exchanges of students of second and of third cycle, researchers and professors between our two institutions, from China, commented Pierre Dehombreux, vice-rector for International Relations. In Wuhan, the recognition and the accreditation of the French language as international language are a reality. The means which are devoted there to the training of French will guarantee profitable exchanges;.
Scientific collaboration and the exchange of students, researchers and instructors between the two institutions, will take place mainly in the field of data processing and telecommunications (photonics).
"In the immediate future, we will work out the definition of a double degree in the field of computer science, Mr. Dehombreux announced.
In the field of photonics, UMONS has for more than 30 years intensified its activities. . It not only reaped scientific results but also had a strong momentum in job creation in industry and research centres. < /span>
As a reminder, l' Université of Mons indeed was at the base of creation in 1977, d'Opticable, only Belgian manufacturer of cables with fiberoptics. The UMONS was founder, here 15 years, of the pôle of Research Multitel. Multitel currently takes part in nearly 30 research projects of width profiting from the financing from the European outline programmes or the projects from Plan Marshall whose our Secretary of State underlined the very positive impact on the economic development of our area.
La convention is coming into effect as of its signature. It will remain it until September 30th, 2014 and can be renewed ensuite.
