New procedure starting from the academic year 2014-2015.
The University of Mons has a set of Regulations (Chapter IX of the Study Regulations) enabling students with special needs to pursue university studies while taking into account the requirements they face in terms of their condition (disability, medical, etc.).
Students must initially contact the not-for-profit organisation “Les Cèdres” who will inform them of all the steps to carry out in order to qualify for “student with special needs" status. With this status, the student may benefit from many measures during their university studies.
Furthermore, Les Cèdres assists students with hearing, vision and/or mobility impairments, and offers personalised assistance with tailored course notes and individual explanations. It also has two communication supports in sign language.
If the student is visually impaired or blind, they may benefit from adaptations (e.g. braille, enlargements of various course materials), Braille and recordings.
