The Laboratory of Metabolic and Molecular Biochemistry (LBMM) carries out research activities from fundamental studies of cell signaling and gene expression to integrated studies aimed at understanding the metabolic and molecular adaptations of renal and muscle diseases, also involving translational studies with a clinical perspective. This approach offers a global and integrated vision of the cellular mechanisms involved in the pathologies and therefore helps to develop innovative therapeutic strategies. The experimental approach combines functional genomics, biochemistry and bioenergetics, molecular biology, and physiopathology. The laboratory has various in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo models.

In addition, the lab is part of a project consortium, the “OrganCrossTalk”, that includes several groups in the Research Institute for Health Sciences and Technologies. The LMMB receives funding from regional, national and international organizations
