Student Support

Getting to know students at the FPSE;
Organisation of Support for Success;
Provision of a learning centre;
Distance learning and e-learning;
Thesis and work placement supervision.

Regarding student support from the CFPU, the “Learning Centre” project is a key focus. This project focuses on setting up a space in order to gather students in one place; a learning space, a place from which to get information (a mini library), a multimedia area bringing together IT resources (hardware and software), and collaborative group work spaces.

As part of the Support for Success framework, especially for students in the first block of their Bachelor’s course (B1BA), the CFPU has implemented various activities. For example, they have collaborated with the Human Development and Data Processing Unit to organise “assisted study leave” as well as remedial sessions in Statistics 1. During these group sessions, an assistant answers students' questions and helps them to overcome any difficulties.

Projects in the pipeline will focus on podcast recording and broadcasting for the FPSE, and setting up a MOOC (massive open online course) for all UMONS students.

For some years, the CFPU has also supervised students during their thesis write-ups and work placements. It is for this purpose that the CFPU proposes a follow-up in order to assess the development of students’ critical mind while adopting a research approach.
